$198.95 for a pair of jeans

Files under Uncategorized | Posted by Terry
This is a true story of a bus ride I had today… Only a poem or a song could make this story believable.
Cut of Jeans

$198.95 for a pair of jeans,
the number echoed inside.
My ears heard before the eyes.
Sitting across with a bag
orange and green by her feet.
A voice next to me questioned
she asked about the brand
about the jeans, about the fit.
The answer struck me
hurt my insides.
The jeans were no more,
fell out of the bag days ago
left on a seat of a bus
one like this.
$198.95 for a pair of jeans
ones that she never wore.
She smiled and said
I still have the bag!

Many, many years ago I paid $95 for a pair of jeans. I had to lie down on the bed to get them on.Last spring I was in Scottsdale AZ in a shop with my gal pals and they had jeans in there for $295…almost $300. I’m sure they were made for about $20 in a 3rd world country. It was kind of, well, appalling. Today I bought a pair of velvet jeans for 2.99 Euros (less than $5.00). I like those numbers better. :-)

Living in New York, its quiet amazing what people buy for the prices that in most parts of the US would be more then rent. Hey, its New York… but I don’t see the point, I guess the 24.99 pair of jeans on sale at Costco is what I consider dressing up. :)
Thanks Lisa… I’d love to hear about those adventures on your site.

I would never pay $198.95 for a pair of jeans. I would happily sell the pair of jeans I am wearing for $198.95 and wrap a bag around me to exit the bus. I’m still trying to figure your post out!

    Thanks MeghanK,
